Our growing firm has an immediate opportunity for an AVIATION PLANNER I in our Burnsville, MN office.

This Aviation Planner I, will assist our Aviation Group staff with technical completion of aviation projects, with emphasis on aviation planning projects and tasks.  Perform research, analysis, estimates, calculations, and geometric design for aviation planning and design projects in compliance with Federal/State aviation standards.  Assist in completion of aviation planning narrative reports, project memorandums, meeting minutes, and grant paperwork.  Prepare airport planning project exhibits utilizing GIS software programs (preferred) and/or AutoCAD under the supervision of Senior Aviation Planner.

Must possess a high capacity for self-motivation and be able to apply aviation planning and environmental knowledge to a variety of aviation projects.

Education and Experience:

  • The selected candidate will have a Bachelors Degree in Aviation or Airport Management, Business Administration, Planning or related field from an accredited college
  • Internship - 5 years of working experience in aviation planning, management, and/or operations

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated working knowledge and skills in ArcGIS and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of aviation principles
  • Working knowledge of FAA airport planning and design principles
  • Strong technical writing ability for client correspondence and technical reports
  • Attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Outlook
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize oneself to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work within a team atmosphere
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.  Limited travel to project sites, agencies and other offices is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • FAA Licensed Private Pilot or better is a plus
  • American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) Certified Member certification preferred
