As a Surveyor I (Surveyor-in-Training) you will learn practical on-the-job experience as you will spend the majority of your time performing assignments designed to develop professional work knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related tasks in a team environment.
Primary Duties
- CAD drafting of topographic, boundary and ALTA/ASCM surveys,
- Performing routine survey computations, preliminary boundary calculations, demonstration of good judgment and thorough knowledge in the application of survey principles
- Researching existing survey records, interpreting plans, operating survey equipment
- Collecting, processing, interpreting and correcting field data measurements and data for engineering and surveying projects
- This position is approximately 90% in the office and 10% in the field. Willingness to travel to other offices and remote project sites, including occasional overnight/extended travel is a plus.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Land Surveying or equivalent from an accredited post-secondary institution
- Have successfully passed the Fundamentals of Surveying exam to be a land-surveyor-in-training
- Other requirements include three (3) months of experience in an engineering or surveying environment, education or training in AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Must be physically capable of navigating rugged terrain for the purpose of performing the collection and QA/QC duties outlined above.
- Education in and knowledge of legal descriptions is required.
- Must possess basic MS Office skills including Word and Excel.
- This position requires a strong sense of urgency, problem solving, skills in organization and prioritization, and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Must possess a valid MN class D driver’s license, or equivalent, and be insurable at the firm’s standard rates. A motor vehicle record check is a condition of employment
