Our growing firm has an exciting opportunity for a Transportation Technician (Civil Engineer Technician). This is an entry level to mid-level position.

The qualified Engineer Technician will work with project engineers and project managers and assist with preliminary layout, design of transportation improvement projects including highway, roadway and intersections, trails and sidewalk systems, and transit facilities, and field construction observation. Duties may include collection of field data, preparing cost estimates, assisting with the preparation of engineering plans, specifications and reports, and traveling to work sites and other project related locations to perform construction observation and documentation in the field.

Education and Experience:

• The selected candidate will have a two-year degree in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent

Required Qualifications:

• Ability to work within a team atmosphere
• Excellent time management and problem solving skills
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including, but not limited to
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to understanding others’ perspectives
• Must be able to work for extended periods in the office as well as outdoors
• Must be able to negotiate rugged terrain for the purpose of QA/QC
• Proven knowledge and skills in Microstation CAD and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and your own transportation. Regional travel is required. Proof of insurance is required upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications (that would be a plus):

• Current, active MnDOT Certifications
• Experience in Transportation or Traffic Engineering for either design or construction
• Knowledge of traffic studies and data analysis
• Knowledge of highway design standards, construction methods, and materials
• Knowledge and experience in both Microstation/Geopak and AutoCAD Civil 3D

2015 graduates will be considered.
