We have an exciting new opportunity for a Civil Project Engineer to join our Central Iowa Operations. This position offers the opportunity for you to join a well-established firm with a long history of superior service. The home office for this position can be Ames, IA or Des Moines, IA.

The focus of this position is on our municipal market. The Civil Project Engineer must possess a high capacity for self-motivation and be able to apply engineering knowledge to a variety of projects. In addition, must be able to develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external clients, client contact engineers, staff from various agencies, peers and subordinates.

Primary Duties

  • Working with a team of Engineers, Planners, and Technicians is responsible for performing engineering project design and construction administration on a variety of municipal projects and support the various design and construction services for the central Iowa market
  • This includes design/drafting, take off estimates, construction administration, quantity calculations and project coordination between the engineer, client, contractors and residents
  • Preparation of design and construction documents, preparing plans, specification writing, client interaction, field engineering services and construction administration

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Iowa
  • Two (2) to Eight (8) years of progressive experience in the civil engineering field is desired. This experience must include transportation and/or municipal infrastructure; experience in plan development and/or construction contract administration
  • AutoCAD C3D and/or Microstation experience 
  • A valid driver’s license for the State of Iowa, or equivalent, along with your own transportation
  • Other preferred skills include knowledge of State DOT requirements and public contact experience.
