As a Transportation Project Engineer you will assist our transportation, traffic and municipal project managers in coordinating, planning, scheduling and execution of preliminary and final highway design projects.

Duties Include:

  • Coordinate internal and external specialized work teams including municipal utilities, water resources, surveying and structural on complex county and state highway projects.
  • Reviews and/or prepares preliminary reports and feasibility studies.
  • Develops, coordinates and reviews the final design and the preparation of plans and specifications.
  • Plans and organizes technical project work assignments.
  • Travels periodically to work site and other project related locations.
  • Directs and supervises the work of other engineers and technicians.
  • Assists with the training and development of professional and technical staff.
  • Provides technical advice regarding design, construction or modifications and repairs to clients, contractors, and other staff members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution 
  • Currently registered as Professional Engineer
  • Requires 4 to 8 years of progressive highway design experience
  • Proven knowledge and skills in AutoCAD Civil 3D
    • Microstation CAD experience a plus
  • Basic understanding of MnDOT Road Design Manual and AASHTO “Green” Book
  • Ability to work within a team atmosphere
  • Excellent time management and problem solving skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills including, but not limited to
    • Verbal and written communication skills
    • Active listening and negotiation skills
    • Ability to understanding others’ perspectives
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license. You will be reimbursed for business-related travel. 
  • Must possess basic MS Office skills including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
