As a Transportation Project Engineer you will assist our transportation, traffic and municipal project managers in coordinating, planning, scheduling and execution of preliminary and final highway design projects.
Duties Include:
- Coordinate internal and external specialized work teams including municipal utilities, water resources, surveying and structural on complex county and state highway projects.
- Reviews and/or prepares preliminary reports and feasibility studies.
- Develops, coordinates and reviews the final design and the preparation of plans and specifications.
- Plans and organizes technical project work assignments.
- Travels periodically to work site and other project related locations.
- Directs and supervises the work of other engineers and technicians.
- Assists with the training and development of professional and technical staff.
- Provides technical advice regarding design, construction or modifications and repairs to clients, contractors, and other staff members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution
- Currently registered as Professional Engineer
- Requires 4 to 8 years of progressive highway design experience
- Proven knowledge and skills in AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Microstation CAD experience a plus
- Basic understanding of MnDOT Road Design Manual and AASHTO “Green” Book
- Ability to work within a team atmosphere
- Excellent time management and problem solving skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skills including, but not limited to
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Active listening and negotiation skills
- Ability to understanding others’ perspectives
- Must possess a valid driver’s license. You will be reimbursed for business-related travel.
- Must possess basic MS Office skills including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
