As a Surveyor I (Surveyor-in-Training) you will spend the majority of their time performing assignments designed to develop professional work knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related tasks in a team environment. This position requires a strong sense of urgency, problem solving ability, skills in organization and prioritization, and the ability to meet tight deadlines. This position is approximately 90% in the office and 10% in the field.

Duties include:

• CAD drafting of topographic, boundary and ALTA/ASCM surveys
• performing routine survey and engineering computations
• preliminary boundary calculations
• demonstration of good judgment and thorough knowledge in the application of survey principles
• researching existing survey records
• interpreting plans
• operating survey equipment
• collecting, processing, interpreting and correcting field data measurements and data for engineering and surveying projects

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Land Surveying or equivalent from an accredited post-secondary institution
• and have successfully passed the Fundamentals of Surveying exam to be a land-surveyor-in-training
• three (3) months of experience in an engineering or surveying environment
• education or training in AutoCAD Civil 3D
• physically capable of navigating rugged terrain for the purpose of performing the collection and QA/QC duties outlined above
• Education in and knowledge of legal descriptions is required
• Must possess basic MS Office skills including Word and Excel
• Candidates must possess a valid MN class D driver’s license, or equivalent, and be insurable at the firm’s standard rates. A motor vehicle record check is a condition of employment
